6 Dear Miss Choi, Re: Application for the post of English tutor I am writing to apply for the post of English tutor. After attending the briefing session on 7 th July, I found great interest in the job. I am a Form 3 student studying at St. Helena Secondary School. I am 15 years old. I am good at English. In the school examination, I got A grades in Reading Comprehension & Usage, English Composition and English Listening, and a B grade in Oral English. Paragraph 1 : Purpose of writing Paragraph 2 : qualifications & examination results

7 I worked as a student assistant at school between 2001 – 2002. My duty involved helping Form 1 students learn English on Saturdays. With this work experience, I am sure I can handle the job of an English tutor well. At school, I am an active member of the English Society. I attended the Hong Kong Inter-school Speech Festival and was awarded a Gold Medal in prose-reading and a Silver Medal in poetry-reading. Paragraph 3 : work experience Paragraph 4: extra-curricular activities & awards

8 I prefer Course B because my family and I will leave Hong Kong for Shanghai from 15 th July to 19 th July. I would be able to attend an interview at anytime convenient to you. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for your kind attention. Yours sincerely, Catherine Wong Paragraph 5 : state the choice Paragraph 6 : a proper ending Secure an interview Complimentary Close Sender’s signature Sender’s name
