Today, we pause to celebrate 10 years of For the Common Good history and collaboration. Many of us know that the project was initiated in 1990 as a result of the Family Support Act of 1988. However, the true origin of the Common Good can be traced to seven women…

Their destination, Williamsburg, VA and a national conference addressing interagency collaboration. They represented both the Ohio Department of Education, and The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Their work during that conference laid the foundation for the Common Good’s first institute in 1990, and the 10 years of collaboration that have followed. Today, those 7 are affectionately referred to as the “Founding Mothers”. They are: Sandra Thatcher LaurensonConnie Ackerman Ellen SeusyVirginia RingelLynne Hall Jane Frye Gene Todd
