ENTRY FEE & ELIGIBILITY There will be a $25 Entry and $25 forfeit fee Must be a full time undergrad/grad/law student. Alumni and part- time students may participate but must sign up at RecSports. In addition, any team with alumni/part-time students may not play for points ONE ALUMNI PER TEAM. If you wish to have more than one alumni, you must petition BEFORE THE SEASON BEGINS to the Intramural Advisory Council. Winners of Valparaiso University varsity awards (or other universities) shall be ineligible to participate in that particular sport and/or related sports for the present and following academic year.

ELIGIBILITY Coaches and graduate assistants cannot participate in the sport that they coach You may only participate on one team. Alumni/part-time players must sign an alumni participation form to be able to participate. Everyone must present Valpo ID to play prior to each game. Valpo ID is required to enter the ARC

ELIGIBILITY No pledges/new members from the current semester may play on fraternity teams. No alumni members/part-time members may play on a team for points

OFFICIAL ROSTER ALL PLAYERS MUST BE LISTED ON YOUR IMLEAGUES.COM ROSTER BEFORE PLAYING IN A REGULAR SEASON GAME. Failure to comply with this rule could result in a forfeit and loss of post-season eligibility.

DAYS AND TIMES Monday / Wednesday 7:00 pm – 10:00pm Tuesday / Thursday 7:00 pm – 10:00pm The tournament will be seeded based on game winning percentage, games lost, games won, and head-to-head. Rescheduling of games is tough to do. If your team must reschedule, you must contact the Rec Sports Office at least 24 hours in advance. For a schedule change to occur BOTH captains must agree on a mutual time and a court must be available or the game will be played as scheduled

EQUIPMENT Ball Game balls will be provided (DO NOT KICK THE VOLLEYBALLS) Jerseys Matching colored shirts are not required, but shirts must be worn by all players Shoes All players must wear closed-toed athletic shoes. No sandals, crocs, snow boots, slippers, etc. Knee pads and soft braces are permitted Casts or other protective equipment are prohibited No hats

PLAYERS A team shall consist of 6 players A minimum of 5 players are needed If a sixth player arrives during a game: They are allowed to rotate or sub in, but the team will have to finish the game with 5 players on the court At the start of the next game the team may play with 6 players on the Teams may play with 4 players due to an injury during play

RULES Matches consist of 3 games each being played up to 21 by rally scoring. Sides will change at the end of each game. A tie game is played until one team is ahead by 2 points OR a team scores 25 points. No protest involving the judgment of an official shall be accepted. All players must sign themselves in and provide their Valpo ID cards.

RULES Any ball hitting your side of the gym ceiling is playable. Any ball that goes over the net and hits the opponents side of the ceiling will be considered the opponents point. Balls hitting the basketball backboard or supports on a serve shall be replayed (in Hilltop only). Kicking the Ball If a player kicks a ball before or during a match an official will give a warning to the ENTIRE TEAM. If ANY PLAYER on the team kicks a ball after a warning is given, their opponent will be awarded 1 point. A point will be awarded to the opponent for every kick for the rest of the match (not just one game). The ONLY exception to this rule is that a game winning point will not be awarded because of a kicking penalty. This rule cannot be disputed. Further infractions may lead to an ejection from the match.

CAPTAIN’S RESPONSIBILITIES Inform teams of game times and playing court. Toss of the coin by the captains will determine choice of serve or side of court. The captain represents the team and will direct and control its play and be responsible for discussion with the officials. The captain is the only player who may carry on a discussion with the officials. Be familiar with all schedules, rules and other intramural information available for team captains and managers. Recreational Sports Handbook Eligibility Keep all fans and players in-line. Unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.

SUBSTITUTIONS Substitutions will be made at the center back position only. Substitution must be part of the regular line-up and must have a term of service. Random substitution may not take place. A consistent serving order must be maintained. Two methods of substitutions are acceptable. Player A may substitute consistently for Player B therefore requiring player B to substitute for player A OR a continuous rotation of players in the same serving must be maintained. In either substitution method, every player must come out of the game after rotating from the server position. Rotation will be in a clockwise direction. Server Out Sub in RBCB LB RF CF LF Unlimited Substitution Pattern Note: The only exception to this substitution procedure would be in the case of an injury. Then, a person may substitute in whatever position the injured player was in.

ALCOHOL/TOBACCO POLICY Valparaiso University is a dry and smoke-free campus. All participants AND fans must abide by these rules. If any player or fan uses tobacco or alcohol while on premises they will be asked to leave. If any player or fan shows signs of intoxication or consumption they will be asked to leave.

SPORTSMANSHIP Teams will be evaluated at the end of every game on a sportsmanship scale. This scale will be determined by the officials and coordinators. To make the playoffs every team must average a minimum of 3 on the sportsmanship scale to compete. Teams will rate the officials at the end of every game to ensure their quality as well.
