Goal #1: Strengthen Athenian democracy Goal #2: Strengthen Athenian empire Goal #3: Glorify Athens “Future ages will wonder at us as the present age wonders at us now.” More paid officials! All free men over 18 are citizens! Direct democracy! I will use Delian League $ to fund Athens’ navy…and I’ll establish more colonies! I will use Delian League $ to rebuild Athens w/fantastic buildings and art! How does direct democracy differ from earlier democracy?
