You and your partner will… 1.Choose an environmental/social issue 2.Create a poster to hang in front of you at the “summit” 3.Present a brief 2-3 minute speech to the “United Nations” on your topic (see requirements on next slide) 4.Possibly receive 10 points of EC, if you convince the “United Nations” to give you money.

3. Your presentation must include… 1)An introductory statement of passion - introduces your topic and immediately sets up what you are trying to do/convince us of 2)Statements of explanation- what is your issue and why is it important to you/to us 3)What is doubtful and certain about the situation/issue you are presenting (SUBJNTV) 4)What will happen in the future if things are not fixed NOW! (FUTURE TENSE) 5)Concluding Remarks regarding your issue and your stance

4. You may also include … (but are not required) Examples or personal “stories” of people affected by your issue Statistics and data to back you up Visual aids/pictures/etc.

5. You must… Clear your topic with me IMMEDIATELY…only one group will be allowed to present on an issue. When you know your topic, come to me and make sure no one else has already claimed it.

6. Grading Rubric – total 30 points GROUP GRADE: (total = 18 points) Content (10) Effort (6) Poster (2) INDIVIDUAL GRADE: (total= 12 points) Accuracy (8) Pronunciation/fluency (4)

7. You will be allowed… 1)Work time in class 2)A note card with 25 words…this will hopefully prevent you from looking down too much…and increase your chances for a GREAT presentation and possible EXTRA CREDIT
