Luke 19: 37-40 Why should we praise the Lord? Psalm 150: 2, Psalm 107: 1-2, Psalm 103: 1-5 –For his kindness and mighty acts towards us –His excellent greatness –There is power in praise 2 Chron.20:14-22 (king Jehoshaphat), Acts 16: 25-34 (Paul and Silas), John 11: 4-45 (Lazarus story) Where should we praise the Lord? 3 How should we praise the Lord?  With singing and Dancing : Ps.35:28; Ps.30:11-12; Mt.12:34; Lk. 2: 20; Mt.21:9,15; Hosea 2:15; Lk.1:59-64; Ps. 67:4; Ps.149:3 Singing and dancing by a true child of God are a reflection of the joy bubbling in one’s heart. They’re a reflection of happiness and success as it is written that out of the abundant of the heart the mouth speaks.Singing and dancing can also be a reflection on the mighty works of God we have seen and heard.  With Clapping and Instruments of Music: Ps.47:1; Ps.150 The clapping of hands and the use of instruments of music eg drums, trumpets, guitar, keyboard etc are other biblical ways by which the Christian can express his or appreciation to God. It is pleasing to God when done in an orderly and decent manner.  In the Holy Spirit: Eph.5:14-19; 1Cor.14:15 We are enjoined as children of God to redeem the time because the days are evil. A way of doing this is to make melody in the heart and sing spiritual songs, thus preventing the tongue from going astray and beginning to sing ungodly songs that do not edify. It can also be done by handling over the tongue to the Holy Spirit to sing spiritual songs to the Lord.

4 Summary –God accepts true worship from our hearts –God accepts the use of musical instruments to worship him –God accepts clapping and dancing as ways of showing appreciations to him. Conclusion As children of God we are encouraged not to be hearers only but also doers of the word Jam.1:22. We should put today’s teachings into practice now and always for our God is good and his mercies endures forever. Doing this is pleasing to the Lord and highly rewarding too. Prayer point : Pray that the praise of the Lord will ever be in your mouth day and night.
