4 2008 -2014 14 different HEIs from Mexico participated as partners in partnership projects selected in 2008 and 2009 (2007,2010 and 2011 did not cover Latin America region) In the on-going projects (selected 2012,2013,2014) 15 HEIs from Mexico are present in 10 partnership (4 as joint coordinators). 431 mobilities. Mexico  the third country in Latin America (behind Brazil and Argentina). Credit mobility 4

8 Achievements and results Academic recognition The high number of mobility flows contributed to mainstreaming the recognition process. Cross-cutting issues Balance between female and male scholarships holders has been so far achieved (51% female & 49% male) Brain drain Survey : 85% of the Mexican respondents returned home after the mobility period Quality assurance Assurance methods focused on internal measures (specific working groups, satisfaction questionnaires for students/staff) Awareness on this aspect is increasing 8

12 Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees (EMJMD) 2014-2020 Attractive scholarship offer open to highly-talented students worldwide Action of excellence Mandatory student mobility in at least 2 European countries The last selection 2015 included one full partner from Mexico: The Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, taken part in the International Master in Innovative Medicine (IMIM) coordinated by the University of Groningen. 12

13 Mobilities under Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees Master students may apply for scholarships directly to the programme(s) of their choice. students be awarded a joint or double/multiple degree at the end of their studies. In 2014, 35 scholarships to Mexican students to follow EMJMD In 2015 : 41 Mexicans, 16 out of which selected under a special geographical window for Brazil and Mexico 13

25 Under H2020: Organisations located in emerging economies such as Brazil and Mexico are no longer automatically eligible for funding They can still participate in all actions but have to determine themselves the sources of funding for their part of the project. 2014 and 2015 2014 call: 6 projects proposals submitted (RISE), 4 are signed or in preparation so far, 2 rejected. 2015 call: 37 participations of organisations from Mexico in submitted proposal (17 ITN projects, 20 for RISE )- Evaluation pending.
