Foundations for Success Setting up a notebook Deciding where to “sit” Seeing you write everyday! Teaching “How to know what to pick…” Use Read Aloud to get them “thinking” Brainstorm “what” and “how” to write Appropriate Word Choice (Word Wall, Notebook Dictionary, etc.) Teach spelling and mechanics through reading MODEL and practice the behaviors you want kids to have.
