Why Did We Choose To Advocate Against Corporal Punishment? We chose to advocate against corporal punishment in the school system. It is important that we provide information about this issue because although it is not used in many states any longer, Arkansas is a state that still exercises this type of punishment in schools. Corporal punishment can cause physical problems and also emotional distress in young children. These things, at an early age, can cause blocks in the learning process and hindering learning at the early childhood level can, in turn, affect learning forever.
