Alcoholism Alcoholism can be a disability, person can be actively using and still considered a person with a disability Student must meet behavior and performance standards for Job Corps

Possible Reasonable Accommodations for Alcoholism Attendance Issues - Leave for medical treatment - Leave for counseling, meetings, programs (e.g., Trainee Employee Assistance program [TEAP], AA, community relapse prevention/intervention programs) - Schedule modification Concentration - Reduce distractions - Frequent breaks - Divide assignments into smaller tasks

Possible Reasonable Accommodations for Alcoholism (continued) Organization - Organizer - Calendar - To do list Stress - Refer to counseling and other appropriate programs (on or off center) Stamina - Longer or more frequent breaks - Flexible scheduling

Chemical Dependency Chemical dependency can be a disability, person who is a current drug user is not considered a person with a disability Must be enrolled in or have completed supervised rehab program (or been otherwise successfully rehabilitated) Student must meet behavior and performance standards for Job Corps

Possible Reasonable Accommodations for Chemical Dependency Most helpful accommodations are those that permit treatment of the disease (e.g., leave or modified schedule) TEAP
