AIM OF THIS PROGRAMME To develop working adults with a range of knowledge and skills directly relevant to the working environment. To cater the interest of students wishing to specialize in a specific functional area.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT SPM with at least 4 years working experiences Or SPM + Recognized Certificate + 2 years working experiences Or SPM + Recognized Diploma + 1 year working experience AGE SHOULD BE MORE THAN 21 YEARS ABOVE within next 3 months.

EXPECTATION 1. Students are expected to have SKILLS OF ANALYSIS CRITICAL THINKING SELF MANAGEMENT PERSONAL & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS 2. So they can transfer their knowledge and understanding in a context of business organization and environment to work place.

Malaysia is moving towards Vision 2020, with the resolution to make Malaysia an industrialized country by the year 2020. To achieve this aspiration, we need quality human resource in terms of education and training. For these purposes, The Council of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia established SPACE in July, 1993. SPACE operation was extended to UTM City Campus in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur SPACE offered the first batch of 30 students doing their Master's degree in Transportation Planning under the Out Campus Part Time Study Programme (now known as Part-Time Study Programme (PSM) in 1993.This was followed by the enrolment of 36 students studying their master in Gas Engineering in 1994. At the same time, 433 students were offered certificate course and offer short courses, seminar and wokhshops were also conducted by SPACE. From 1995/1996 academic session, the academic programmes through Part-time Studt Programme (PSM) has been extended in terms of the number of programmes as well as the number of student intake and learning centres. At present, PSM programmes for Bachelor Degree and Diploma are being carried out at 15 learning centres all over the country. The students' enrollment has exceeded 5000. A total of 5,326 graduates have successfully completed their studies through the Part-time study Programme. About Space UTM.

SPACE UTM Executive Programme is learning and training programme which are made specifically for professional worker. These programme are also well tailored for those who want to enhance their knowledge and skills in the offered field. SPACE UTM has over 65 executive programme collaborated with our smartpartner. The duration for this programme is between 12 to 15 months. Students to Know Students must follow the rules and regulation governed by the management of Space UTM and KUJB during the studies. The programme is provided specifically for those who wish to enhanced their knowledge and competency. The programme is not recognised by the Public Service Department (PSD) for any appointment or upgrading purpose in the public service. The certificate is not listed as a qualification for entry to first year degree / diploma programme at Local Public Institute or Higher Learning. The Space UTM has the right to withdraw or terminate the student, should the information or statement given in the application are false.

DELIVERY MODE - 24 hours face to face contact per module - 2 modules per semester - Each semester 2 months - Total duration 12-15 months - Maximum deferment 2 semester All students are required to complete their course within 1 ½ years.

DEFERMENT PROCEDURES 1. Before Course Starts Write in a letter with explanation(s) Indicate when u wish to start the course Maximum deferment 6 months 2. After course commence Fill in the deferment application form Make the payment of RM120.00 per module to cashier Maximum deferment two semester (4 months)

CHANGE SPECIALIZATION 1. Make sure you choose the right specialization TODAY 2. Change of specialization after course commence: Fill in the change specialization form Make the payment of RM 500.00 to cashier Send the form to KU office 3. Change of specialization before course commence Write in a letter & submit to KU office

ASSESSMENTS Depending on subject, assessment are divided to : Assignment Will be given on the 2 nd class by the lecturer. Assignments must submit to KUJB according to the timeline Students can discuss with the lecturer on the subject matter before the submission date. Case study Discussion of the topic Its all about brain storming Presentation about the topic To analyze the case Flowing of the ideas Project Individual / group project will be given of the first class and submit according to the timeline Final Examination Closed book written examination for three hours

Select a Topic 1 Choose one that you are comfortable with, interesting Analyze The Topic 2 What are the main issues? What does the question requires you to do: to explain, evaluate, analyse etc.. Understand what each term means Search For Information 3 Where can you obtain sources of information? Library, journal, INTERNET etc.. Evaluate And Select 4 Do you have information relevant to the main issues and supporting issues?

Take Notes From Resources 5 Make sure notes / information cover all aspects related To the main issues and supporting issues. Plan An Outline 6 Outline to consist of Introduction, Body and Conclusion. Supporting items such as appendices, reference list etc.. Organise And Consolidate 7 Write notes for each of the part e.g. Introduction Body Conclusion Write The Assignment 8 Ensure the following: Language clarity Flow of ideas and cohesion Spelling and grammar

Check And Review 9 Ask yourself the following questions: Have I dealt with the main issues and supporting issues thoroughly ? Is the content relevant and through? Is there sufficient supporting evidence to uphold my views opinions and ideas? Does the piece of work make sense overall? Is the language clear and precise, or vague and ambiguous? Do the paragraph connect well? Are the quotations appropriately cited? Are the illustrations properly labelled? Are there spelling and grammar errors? Are all the references cited correctly recorded? Submit Before Deadline 10 Ensure you meet the deadline, late submission may not be Accepted at all! Avoid procrastination in order to produce a good piece of work.

COMMON MISTAKES FOUND IN ASSIGNMENTS MISTAKESHOW TO AVOID THEM 1) Unfocussed treatmentKeep to the point, do not deviate, leave out unnecessary points 2) Shallow treatment of the Topic/ subject Provide sufficient content. Read more, use more examples, backed by evidences 3) Badly organised content/ poor presentation Keep to outline plan of Intro, Body and Conclusion 4) Lack of fluency and flowKeep language simple and concise. Link points and paragraphs Check grammar and spelling 5) Poor introduction Introduce the topic and explain how you Are approaching the subject. Put the topic In perspective

GRADING SYSTEM Completion of the full requirements will lead to the award title “ EXECUTIVE DIPLOMA” in the studies specialization awarded by UTM – SPACE Classifications to the award are : - Distinction : 70% or above aggregate - Credit : 60% - 69% aggregate - Pass : 40% - 59% aggregate - Fail : 39% & Below Final award based on aggregate average of all module performance. Plagiarism = 0%

LEARNING SUPPORT Lecturer/ facilitator - - minimum five years working experience in the field / subject they teach - At least a degree holder - Conduct consultation and classes every week with all the students.

FEES Registration fees : RM 600.00 Tuition fees : RM 8250.00 Re-sit fees : RM 120.00 per module Exemptions fee: RM 120.00 per module (Maximum 3 subjects will be exempted in any of the area and its based on the previous qualification)

EPF WITHDRAWAL Students must make sure to choose EPF withdrawal when applying for the course SPACE – UTM prepare all necessary documents and send to KUJB KUJB will pass to the students Students bring the documents to EPF office and fill in the withdraw form then submit all the documents (Always have a copy for your own reference!) Upon submission ask EPF for acknowledgement and return it to KUJB OFFICE. Students to follow-up closely with EPF after 2 weeks for the payment.
