7 Drug Use Harms Mental/Emotional Health Drug use harms mental/emotional health in the following ways: Long-term goals are harmed Keeps users from learning how to deal with emotions in a natural way Causes users to make poor judgments Stops the emotional growth of users

8 Drugs Are Illegal People who are caught with illegal drugs or selling them can be arrested and may go to jail.

9 Drug Use Creates Problems at School Anyone of any age caught with illegal drugs within a drug-free zone can be arrested and go to jail. drug-free zone A 1,000-yard distance around a school where anyone caught with drugs can be arrested Students who are caught with drugs may be banned from school activities or expelled from school.

11 Drug Use and the Law Some teens are sentenced to probation. probation A set period of time during which a person who has been arrested must check in regularly with a court officer A person who fails to check in with the court officer during the probation period may face stronger punishment.
