Why was the wall built? ~ People say the conical structure was built for storage and/or sacred ceremonies. ~ In actuality the reason why the wall was built is a mystery. ~ The acrostic poem will be on the next slide.

Nelson Mandela’s Speech We will read his speech for you. He is a great hero of the black South Africans.

Business Letter We wrote a business letter to get more information on our wall.

Authentic Costumes The Africans traditional costumes displayed many bright colors. Some of them had beads and trim. Some of them wore wraps on their head that look something like a bandanna. We have a picture on our display board for you to look at.

Foods Fruits are very popular in Africa. They eat many of the same fruits we eat. Check out our other popular foods from Africa on our display board.

What did we learn? We learned a lot about 14 famous walls around the world and how people have similarities and differences. We also learned about many invisible walls like prejudice, hate, and greed. We all have a responsibility to break down these terrible walls. What will you do to help?
