A Graduation Project by Sierra Kerkenides

Why I became interested in this topic. I became interested in this topic because I believe natural resources are not used as often as they can be in terms of pain management. When I discovered that medications can be made from natural resources, I was inspired to find the vast differences between chemically made and environmentally made medications.

My Paper Topic Pain Management: Toxic versus Non-Toxic Driving Question Should patients in need of pain management, use natural or pharmaceutical treatments? Thesis Statement Patients in need of pain management should opt for non-toxic treatments first, and use toxic treatments only as a last resort.

My Paper Continued Key Facts Cancer kills more than 500,000 people each year. Chemotherapy is the most common toxic treatment. Antineoplastons is an example of a non-toxic treatment. Summary Pain management, especially for cancer patients, is an important part of medical recovery. The pros and cons of toxic and non-toxic treatments should be heavily weighed.

My Product My Product is a summary of posters that I created to show how propaganda is used for toxic and non-toxic treatment options. I created five different posters showing the time periods and what the posters looked like then and now. I researched the different time periods and based my posters off of similar posters that I found.

My Product Continued My product impacts others because they get to visualize how far medications have come in the past 90 years. My mentor worked with me on showing me how to properly imitate posters. Also, she guided me on the process to make sure I was on track and completing my work. By completing this product I have learned that propaganda changes over time. Even though the same message is getting thrown to society, the technology of the time period effects how propaganda is presented.

Posters I Imitated for my Product.

Example of Modern Day Ad http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embe dded&v=pB1SPx7dBd8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embe dded&v=pB1SPx7dBd8

The connection between my product and my paper. My product connects to my paper in many ways. For one, the posters I created show how medications are shown to the public. This is relevant because my paper describes how toxic and non-toxic medications are advertised, even though it can be done with false words.

Successes and Challenges in the making of my Graduation Project. Successes Completing all of my work before the due dates. Having an organized project. Challenges Imitating the posters. APA formatting.

Final Process Reflection This project process... gave me a more intellectual look on modern day medications, helping me with the career path that I have chosen. impacts my future by preparing me for real life presentations in the work place. I will take away... facts about modern day medications. presentation skills. a new outlook on modern day, natural medications.
