2
Purpose eOur device uses a series of energy conversions to make coffee.
3
Golf Ball eBall is released and rolls down track. eLands in plastic cup. eGravitational potential to kinetic energy. e0.737J lost. e63.0% efficient.
6
Plastic Cup eThe cup (holding the ball) falls, pulling the string attached to the track. eThe track’s hinge will loosen and release the car. eThis is a collision. e0.0163 J lost. e34.9% efficient.
8
Car eThe car runs down the track, hitting the clothespin. eGravitational potential to kinetic energy.
10
Clothespin eThe clothespin opens, releasing the string. eThe string holds a ball (Santa).
12
Ball eThe ball (Santa) attached to the string will hit the button on the coffeemaker. eThe coffeemaker will turn on and start to make coffee! ePendulum. e0.0154 J lost. e20.8% efficient.
