3.  When an event happens in history involving political decision, that changes the traditional pattern of politics, it's a turning point.  Lets look at three examples of political turning points in our nations early history:  The Roosevelt Corollary  American Isolationism after WW1  Reagan Revolution (rebirth of Conservative Movemement)

6.  WWI (1914-1918)  M  A  I  N  Why did USA get involved?  Unrestricted Submarine warfare (mostly)  Effects?  Isolationism of 1920’s and 30’s.  Disillusionment = Lost Generation (TS Elliot, Earnest Hemingway, FS Fitzgerald)  Treaty of Versailles and Great Depression create perfect storm for WW2.

8.  Impact of the New Deal on American society=  Government grew to enormous size = high taxes.  LBJ and the Great Society = High taxes and entitlement.  Election of 1980= Reagan: “Government needs to go on a diet”. Government seen by many as no longer being a solution, but a problem. B. 1993 bombing of WTC, 1998 US embassy attacks, 2000 USS Cole C. From 1972 – 9/11/2001 = 27 attacks on US Soil V. President Bush declares War of Terror after 9/11 A. Nation will not only focus on terrorists, but nations that harbor terrorists. Shift from reactionary to proactive. B.
