Toward the end of the last ice age, some 15,000 to 20,000 years ago, a few of the communities that were most ideal by geography and climate began to make the transition from the long period of Paleothic, or Old Stone Age, cruelty to a more settled way of life depending on animal farming and agriculture.

5. The Neolithic Period of transition, or New Stone Age, led to a rise in population, to a growth in the size of communities, and to the beginnings of town life. It is also referred to as the Neolithic Revolution since the speed of technological innovation increased so greatly and human social and political organization underwent a consistent increase in intricacy.

6. The Agricultural Age played a major role in human history. The process has been vital in world-wide socio-economic change. Most families were large and they grew crops and had their children in the field working just to survive. When farmers became capable of producing food beyond the needs of their own families, others in their society were freed to devote themselves to projects other than food acquisition.

7. 1635 - Founding of the first public school in the US: The first public school in the United States was founded in Boston by Puritan settler in 1635, The school's motto, Sumus Primi, is translated as "we are first." The first classes were held in the home of Schoolmaster Philemon Pormont, until a separate schoolhouse was erected in 1645. The Boston Latin School provided a learning environment for boys from various socio-economic backgrounds. Girls were accepted in 1972. An early attendee of the Boston Latin School was Benjamin Franklin whom has a statue overlooking the former location of the Boston Latin School, located in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood.
