Struggling Parents How can we lessen the pressure on young parents with resident children? How can we address feelings of failure/ responsibility for those with non-resident children?

Emerging Adults How can we create a safety net for these young people? How can we help them resolve issues that may impede their progress?

Troubled & Troubling How can we help these young people see their futures in a new way? How can we increase the focus on their strengths and foster their dreams, hopes, and aspirations?

Current Supports - Health insurance – Housing assistance – Tuition waiver, post-secondary educational support – Adventure challenge/therapy – Employment programs (Youth build, First Jobs Academy) – NC Reach – Opportunity Passport Program – Extended services past age 18

Needed Supports - Permanent connections/Social support - Community Connections - Respite for teen parents - Engage more fathers - Counseling for pregnant teenagers - Healthy relationships - Time/stress management - Encouragement/Positive Rewards - Dealing with the past, resolving issues with family - Foster interests and build strengths, instill hope for the future
