Keeping Safe: Store Emergency Evacuations I N A N E MERGENCY : T HINKING AND D OING Does somebody need first aid or to be taken to the clinic? I am responsible for staff and customer safety How bad is this problem, can it cause death or injury? Can the problem get worse? Do I need to close the store or can we control it? Who else do I need to contact? Police? Local directors? I will tell Area Wardens and staff what they need to do Who can help? Which area warden is available? Do I need to discuss this problem with area wardens first? What is the best way of managing this emergency? What is the right SAFETY PROCEDURE? CHIEF WARDENS : THINKING Calm and steady!

Organising First aid or doing it themselves

Keeping customers and staff safe from chemical spills

I will follow the Chief Warden’s directions Knowing the store safety rules is very important If the emergency is very serious I will help the Chief Wardens (Store Managers) get ready to close the store When there is an angry or dangerous customer, I will help the Chief Warden understand the best way culturally to manage this Does somebody need first aid or taken to the clinic? I will help the staff know what to do next AREA WARDENS : THINKING Calm and steady!

Collecting timesheets, Sat Phone, first aid kit
