Look carefully at the photos on pages 504-505. Read all information on both pages. On your own paper answer the following questions: – What can you tell about the people from their facial expressions? – What objects are shown as part of the setting and background? – What do you imagine that the people are thinking and feeling? – Which photo has the strongest impact on you? Why? – What function did Ellis island serve between 1892 and 1954? How many immigrants passed through Ellis island during those years?
