Reducing your consumption of saturated and trans fats, cholesterol, sodium and added sugars can help you manage your type 2 diabetes. Also, avoid tobacco smoke — people who have type 2 diabetes and smoke are three times more likely to die of cardiovascular disease than nonsmokers.
