Surface Preparation Surface preparation to remove dust, oil, moisture and other loose material from the surface should be done before painting

Surface Preparation Cracks and holes should be repaired or caulked

Blister and Peel Moisture in or on the wood will cause paint to blister and peel

Crack and Scald Expanding and contracting surfaces cause the paint to crack and scald

Quality The quality of a paint job is strongly affected by the quality of the surface preparation before painting

Paint Brush Painting with a paintbrush is much slower than with a paint spray gun, but the paint brush costs much less

Paint Spray Gun Painting with a paint spray gun requires that paint be thinned, and the gun must be cleaned after each use to prevent clogging
