1 Contact: Karin Hauck karin@ssl.berkeley.edu Solar Week – Spring 2012 March 19-23, 2012 was an active and fun run for Solar Week*, this twice-yearly (since 2000) week of Sun-related middle school curriculum, activities, games and interactive message board for students to pose questions of leading solar scientists. Individual page requests (hits): 71,571 Distinct IP addresses: 7,044 (the number of unique, unduplicated computers that visited the site at least once). 194 posts (questions from classrooms and answers from scientists) appeared on the interactive bulletin board. There were two new scientists this go-round, and one new solar electrical engineer. “Yes [Solar Week made me want to learn more about science], it waz totally rad.” (student in evaluation). * Funded by Energy from the Sun (EPOESS) Students participating in Solar Week in a school in Florida engage in supplemental outdoor activities.

Individual page requests (hits): 37,243 Distinct IP addresses: 6,228 (the number of unique, unduplicated computers that visited the site at least once). “Yes [would recommend to a friend]. Individual page requests (hits): 190,231 Distinct IP addresses: 7,392 (the number of unique, unduplicated computers that visited the site at least once). 76 posts (questions from classrooms and answers from scientists) appeared on the interactive bulletin board. The embedded live Twitter feed received support and promotion for Solar Week from other heliophysics or science education entities—such as @SunViewer, @girlsstart, @MultiverseUCB, @SP2RC and @RiceSpace—including exciting and current Sun pics. * Funded by Energy from the Sun (EPOESS) A screen capture of the interactive bulletin board and embedded Twitter feed.
