It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Certainty of our Salvation4 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Certainty of our Salvation5 Once saved, always saved A simple formula but Scripture speaks of salvation in three ways: we have been saved (past)- Romans 8:24, Ephesians 2:5 we are being saved (present)- 1 Corinthians. 1:18, 2 Cor. 2:15-16 we shall be saved (future)- Romans 5:9-10, Philippians 1:27-28

7. Certainty of our Salvation6 Is there a contradiction? Assurance: John 3:36, John 6:37, 1 Corinthians 1:8, 2 Timothy 4:18 Warnings-their relevance: Matthew 24:13, 1 Corinthians 15:2, 2 Corinthians13:5 Scripture must be read in context, it never contradicts itself

8. Certainty of our Salvation7 Salvation by God or man? Our salvation is by God’s sovereign grace: We are divinely elected It is by the sacrifice of God’s Son He justifies us freely He seals us by His Spirit He preserves us
