3 Christianity 1. Jews and the Romans - After Solomon, Israel divides into Israel and Judah - Judah taken over by Rome - Some believe they should fight the Romans, others cling to Jewish tradition

4 Christianity 2. The Life of Jesus - Prophecies told of a coming messiah - Jesus was born in Bethlehem, grew up in Nazareth, carpenter - Teaching ministry began around AD 30 and lasted 3 years - Performed many documented miracles

5 Christianity 3. What did Jesus teach? - Relationship was more important than religious laws - Love and forgiveness - Taught through the use of parables - Closely followed by 12 disciples

6 Christianity 4. Crucifixion - Followers: messiah - Jews: teaching a false message - Romans: threat to law and order - Arrested and charged with treason, sentenced to death - After 3 days, he rose from the dead and spent another 40 days on earth teaching
