Steps in Choosing a Career 1. “Consider your interests, abilities, and other characteristics” should be the first step 2. Narrow the field of jobs 3. Study the requirement of the job – get good information

Steps to Choosing a Career 4. Plan for alternative occupations – the first choice may not work out 5. Prepare a plan for career preparation – early career planning can help you take the right courses in high school.

Gaining Work Experience Having a SAE is a great way to gain work experience. The primary types of SAE are: –Entrepreneurship –Placement –Research –Improvement

Activity Today you will prepare a draft of a career development plan. This plan should include: –Career Objectives –High School Academic and Elective Courses –Work Experiences –Education/ Training after High School –CDP Timeline
