8. Vocab 4: 1. stringent (adj) 1. The ACT is very stringent about its rules and regulations, and if everything is not perfectly in order, the test will be voided. 2. lurid (adj) 1. Though health warnings sometimes try to use photographs to shock viewers into not wanting to try a product, sometimes they become overly lurid and show pictures that no one wants to see, like the teeth of someone who uses meth. 3. scurrilous (adj) 1. I could not believe the scurrilous talk that was running rampant; usually gossip is said without harmful intent, but these rumors were clearly trying to hurt someone.
