The Resource Cycle
3
Completing the inventory, identifying needs, and ordering resources can be the most time consuming portion of this process.
4
Inventory Each department and agency provides a spreadsheet with their resource capabilities. All resources are typed according to the FEMA typing assignments.
5
Identify needs Once an event is planned or a disaster occurs, the EMA will assess the needs on scene. If the resources are not available in the county, we are able to pull assistance from the district. If all local and district resources have been exhausted, the State will then assist.
6
Ordering resources Working closely with the 911 Center, mutual aid departments are advised via radio of the need for resources. The times of the requests are carefully tracked. Arrival times are documented and backup resources are ordered so proper rest times and demobilization can be planned.
7
Communication is crucial Knowledge of the types of resources Interaction and planning with agencies in a non-emergency state has provided the greatest assistance
