2 Global Health Health depends on a number of interacting social, political, economic, cultural, biological and environmental factors Many health issues arise from and are exacerbated by global inequalities Globally, health conditions have and continue to improve with new medicine, technology and sanitation systems Life expectancy is also increasing the world over

4 Global Health Continued However, there are still significant gaps between the richest and poorest countries Congo’s life expectancy in 2011 was 55 years while Canada’s was 81 Billions of people still lack access to basic sanitation “Even with all of today’s technology, 20% of all people living in developing countries will not live to be 40 years old, and 20% of the children born in the least developed countries will die before they reach the age of five” (Draper) In the developed world, less than 1% will die of the same fate.
