2. Definitions First-Time in College (AC): A student who has no prior postsecondary experience (except as noted below) attending any institution for the first time at the undergraduate level. This includes students enrolled in academic or occupational programs. It also includes students enrolled in the fall term who attended college for the first time in the prior summer term, and students who entered with advanced standing (college credits earned before graduation from high school). First Generation Federal : Students that represent the first generation of their families to attend higher education institutions. Indicates that neither of the student’s parents attended college. Why AC uses FTIC rather than First Gen.? 1.Students who self identify as the first generation often are confused or simply don’t know whether at least one parent hold a baccalaureate degree. 2.Amarillo College can easily identify whether a student has completed or matriculated any college credit hours.
