4 MainPower Powering our community -Delivering electricity to the North Canterbury and Kaikoura region for nearly 100 years. -Powering over 37,000 homes and businesses via 4,932 kilometres of overhead lines and underground cables, across a geographical area of 11,180 square kilometres.

6 MainPower MainPower Trust -MainPower is a community-owned company. -The MainPower Trust holds ownership on behalf of the community and customers of the region. Electricity Networks -MainPower is one of 29 electricity distribution companies in New Zealand. -MainPower is the 9th largest by network length and the 10th largest by number of connections.

7 MainPower Community ownership Profit Distribution -Qualifying customers receive a rebate, credited against monthly power accounts. -MainPower also provides funding for community initiatives. -We continue to invest in the core electrical infrastructure that provides a safe, secure and reliable supply of electricity to our region. -MainPower contributes close to $200,000 in annual rate payments to district councils, based on the value of our infrastructure assets.

8 -Waiswim Programme: annually delivers over 44,000 swimming lessons to 3,758 children from 33 schools. -Coaching Programme: sport coaching sessions provided in 42 primary schools for over 6,000 students annually. -Energy Efficiency: annual installation of insulation in 75 low income households in the region, with an additional 60 home energy checks targeting low income households. -Economic Development: supporting the growth of businesses in the region and recognising exceptional businesses. 9 MainPower Our people “The region has continued to experience significant growth over the past year. Our challenge continues to be the resourcing of current demand whilst also preparing ourselves for the skill requirements of an intelligent network future”. -MainPower is a major employer in the region with 180+ staff. -We’re justifiably proud of our trainee and apprenticeship programme and the career pathways we provide. -This year we will have a total of 17 trainees and apprentices as part of our team.

10 MainPower Our network -Waimakariri West District: Five year project to double the available capacity into the Swannanoa/Oxford area. Budgeted $22m for network upgrades and $4m for Transpower upgrades. -Woodend District: Managing the rapid growth in the Woodend and Pegasus area. Budgeted $6m for network upgrades and $5m for Transpower upgrades. -Ashley District: Increasing the security of supply to the Loburn, Ashley and Sefton areas. Budgeted $5.8m for network upgrades. -Culverden District: Rapid load growth from dairying and irrigation. Budgeted $8.6m for network upgrades and $9m for Transpower upgrades.

11 MainPower Our performance -A record 604 million units of electricity were distributed during the year ended 2015, up from 560 million units in 2014. -MainPower completed $25.3 million of network capital investment to support regional growth. -Completed over 1,200 new connections. -Qualifying customer rebates totalled $9.257 million – a record level ‘payout’ back to customers. -Relocation to a new facility with exceptional resilience features to ensure business continuity. -Overall customer service rating 7.9 out of 10, performance rating 7.94 out of 10.
