Louis XIV the Boy King Louis took the throne at 8 years old While he was young Cardinal Mazarin was ruled as his regent This was a time of great political growth for the French Monarchy

The Fronde How the Nobility of France was not fond of the growing power of the Monarchy The Fronde was a revolt by the French nobility, particularly in Paris, to gain back the power they were losing to the King. What type of affect might his have on the young King Louis?

Louis Plan for Absolute Power When Louis turned 18 he took power as the King of France Louis always distrusting of the French Nobility planned to move the seat of power from the Palace in Paris to the new Palace in Versailles

Versailles Versailles would eventually become the largest palace in all of Europe Louis would use the Palace to solidify his absolute power – Made the Nobility move to the palace – A force used to control the nobility – Was a symbol of his absolute power
