#2: God At Our Center
5
Can science accept God? Many scientists do – but they are often ostracized by their fellow scientists. Where does all wisdom and all knowledge come from in the first place?
6
By which He created all things Proverbs 3:19 – “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens.
7
Romans 11:33 -- Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
8
1 Corinthians 2:6-10 – Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;…
9
“’…but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.’ For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.’”
10
Ephesians 3:10 -- … “so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.”
11
Colossians 2:2-3 – “…that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
12
Proverbs 8:11 – “For wisdom is better than jewels; and all desirable things cannot compare with her.”
13
Proverbs 2:6 – For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
14
All science/philosophy /art/human endeavor begins and ends with God. Those who figure without God are deluded.
15
Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 -- That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one might say, “See this, it is new”? Already it has existed for ages Which were before us.
16
Isaiah 2:17 – “The pride of man will be humbled and the loftiness of men will be abased; and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.”
17
Job 21:22 – “Can anyone teach God knowledge, in that He judges those on high?”
18
Nations throughout history have attempted to quash belief in God. They cannot fully accomplish their goal. Example of former Soviet Union countries – now asking for others to teach them the Bible because their nation is morally bankrupt.
19
Pure knowledge makes for arrogance 1 Corinthians 8:1 – “Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.”
20
1 Corinthians 13:1-2 -- If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
21
Jeremiah 2:13 – “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
22
Isaiah 29:8 -- It will be as when a hungry man dreams— And behold, he is eating; But when he awakens, his hunger is not satisfied, Or as when a thirsty man dreams— And behold, he is drinking, But when he awakens, behold, he is faint And his thirst is not quenched. Thus the multitude of all the nations will be Who wage war against Mount Zion.

“Man is an enigma whose solution can only be found in God. Herman Bavinck
