Step 1: Problem Identification 29.9% of current 9-11 th grade students scored Proficient and Advanced on the 2011 ELA CST Increase number of Proficient and Advanced by ≥3.1% to reach 33% Proficiency and score 2 points on the LAUSD School Performance Framework. Problem Identification

3 Step 2: Problem Analysis What is preventing students from becoming proficient? –Delivery of instruction –Student motivation –Student skill level –Understanding of key standards –Language Problem Analysis

Step 3: Intervention Design and Implementation Identify students who are in the Basic and scoring close to proficiency? 9th/10th/11th Target intervention for specialized groups: ELs, Special Education, and BB and FBBs Classroom teachers review CST focus standards with their students.

Intervention Design and Implementation Vertical Teaming Cohorts: Focus on student engagement and increasing the proficiency rate of students. Use periodic assessment data to remediate and adjust curriculum and instruction One-on-one counseling by teachers and group tutoring with students close to Proficiency 9-11th grade ELA Common finals targeting Focus Standards.
