Location This is the Empire State Building located at 350 5th Ave New York, NY Theme Definition: Location describes where something is on the Earth Essential Element: I. Places and Regions Geography Standard: 4- the physical and human characteristics of places 5- how people create regions to interpret Earth’s complexity 6- how culture and experience influence people’s perceptions of places and regions Explanation: This photo represents Place because the Grand Canyon makes Arizona a very famous place and a large tourist attraction. Human-Environment Interaction Hoover Dam, Colorado River Theme Definition: Describes the relationship between people and their environment Essential Element: IV. Human Systems V. Environment and Society Geography Standard: 12- the patterns of human settlement 14- how human actions modify the physical environment 15- how physical systems affect human systems Explanation: The Hoover Dam goes with this theme because the humans affected the Environment by building a dam which stops water flow.
