Homonyms What are Homonyms? Homonyms are words that sound alike, but have different meanings . Homonyms are also called homophones. Some homonyms are spelled alike, but have different meanings .

Homonyms Some Homonyms are consider Homophones because they include both the Homophones and are spelled alike, but have different meaning. For example bark: (the sound a dog makes) and bark (the outer layer of a tree trunk).

Homonyms Homonyms can be tricky when writing an essay, a letter, or a story. Examples: My ant/aunt and I went to the park yesterday. Mia learned her lessen/lesson when she got punished. This morning/mourning was so hot.

Homonyms It’s/its, their/ there/ they’re, your/you’re
Today its/it’s a very cold day. My friends are over their/ there/ they’re. Your/You’re a great friend, that’s why I love you.
