Characteristics: A typhoon looks like a hurricane. It contains water that can flood a whole state. High winds will blow. It has one calm eye like a hurricane Rainfall will occur.

Typhoons happen when strong winds form a circle. It starts over water and twists like a hurricane.

Protection Keep all windows shut and stay indoors or evacuate if needed. Make sure your car is in your garage. You should probably have food and cash. Watch the news. Try to keep electricity off.

Interesting Facts The deadliest typhoon of the 20th century was Typhoon Nina. It killed nearly 100,000 people in China in due to a flood that caused twelve reservoirs to fail. In 1964 the most active season occurred with 39 storms that formed.
