Don begins to focus on songwriting Kitty Wells records Don’s original “Thou Shalt Not Steal” (1954); published by Athens Music owned by Chet Atkins Chet Atkins (Inducted 2002), becomes a guide as Don and Phil make their way through Nashville in 1955-1956 1957: the brothers are introduced to Wesley Rose who secures a contract with Cadence Records – their big break The Everly Brothers
