2 Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) - the National Coordinator for the implementation of GHS in Malaysia First National Coordinating Committee for GHS Implementation (NCC-GHS) held on August 2006, chaired by MITI NCC-GHS members include stakeholders from the government, industry and relevant associations

5 Responsibility of Lead Agency: review existing laws and legislations on classfication and labelling of chemicals in the related sector for GHS implementation; identify and address sectoral issues (situational and gap analysis) awareness raising and educating stakeholders on GHS

6 Status of GHS Implementation (by Sector) Industrial Workplace First draft amendment to the Classification, Packaging and Labelling Regulations 1997, ready Manual on classification, labelling and preparing safety data sheet (SDS), ready Technical training program for industry and government agencies, in planning process Comprehensibility Testing and Situation and Gap Analysis to be conducted this year.

7 Agriculture (Pesticides) Pesticides (Labelling) Regulations 1984, under review (FAO Guidelines) Conducting briefing and awareness program on GHS to farmers, industry and associations Transport Complied with international laws for different modes of transport, such as UN Transport of Dangerous Goods

8 Draft Regulations on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Petroleum by road, in final stage New Regulations on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Petroleum by rail, in drafting process Consumer Products To organise and conduct public awareness on GHS
