How the speech organs work in English? Nasal cavity lips Teeth Larynx Palete Tongue Pharynx Vocal cords

1.1 The vocal cords Contains wind-pipe and the larynx. The air released by the lungs comes through the wind-pipe and arrives at the larynx. The inner edges of the vocal cords cover the top of the wind-pipe, so there’s a gap between them known as “ the glottis”

1.1 The vocal cords “the glottal stop” book p. 14 The opening and closing of the vocal cords cause different musical note. These note can be “high and low” due to the opening and closing. This called VOICE The difference between “voiced and voiceless” sounds. Book p. 15

1.2 The palate It forms the roof of the mouth and separates the mouth cavity from the nasal cavity. It contains different parts “soft, hard, uvula and the alveolar ridge” While pronouncing most of the sounds of all lang. the soft palate is raised. The alveolar ridge is the part of the gums immediately behind the upper front teeth. Many consonants sounds like /t d n l r s z 3 d3/ are made with the tongue touching or close to the alveolar ridge
