What are Food Labels? O Food labels are located on the package of all food products. O They provide serving size, nutritional information and dietary percentages of the food your eating.

What is a serving size? O Serving size on the food label is the recommend amount your suggested to serve yourself that the nutrition is based on. O If you eat twice the serving double the food label information, if you only eat half, divide the information in half.

What nutritional information is on the Label? O the food contains certain nutrition elements, which will be listed on the left side of the label. O The amount will also be listed on in the middle O The information is based on a serving size.

What is a daily value percentage? O This is the percent of the recommend intake the food provides, based on a 2000 calorie diet. O The blue highlights are the daily value percentages for 4 cookies, which is one serving.

Explore this Label: O What is the serving size? O How much sodium is in it? O What percent of daily fiber is it?

Explore this label: O How many servings are in this container? O Is the fiber high or low? O What percent of vitamin C is found in this item?

Food Markers O It is now becoming more common to find food markers on the front of the box in addition to the nutrition label as people become more health aware
