1 Take out Lab worksheet where you wrote your hypothesis yesterday.
NO WARMUP TODAY! Take out Lab worksheet where you wrote your hypothesis yesterday.

2 How exactly does a steeper ramp affect the distance a car travels?
Question: How exactly does a steeper ramp affect the distance a car travels? Think: Does double, triple or quadruple the ramp height mean double, triple & quadruple the distance? Hypothesis: Write your hypothesis UNDER the data table on your worksheet.

3 Materials: Procedure: Hot Wheels Car Meter Stick ramp
3 Textbooks Calculator Procedure: Build a ramp using 2 textbooks. Start car at top of ramp & let go (do NOT push). Record distance traveled from end of ramp. Repeat 2 more times & record distances. Calculate average distance for the 3 trials. Repeat same procedures using 4 textbooks and then 6 textbooks. Create a bar graph of your average distances. Label your units of measure on the axis. Below the bar graph, draw a picture that shows your ramp with 3 books.

4 BrainPop – “Forms of Energy”
Lab Conclusions: How exactly does a steeper ramp affect the distance a car travels? Does double, triple or quadruple the ramp height mean double, triple & quadruple the distance? WHY?? Students should see that the distance traveled is increasing, but the amount of increase incrementally decreases with each book. BrainPop – “Forms of Energy”
