Break This Year Up Into Thirds! The Class of 2016 1. Fall Quarter – (October – mid-December) To Do: Apply to at least 2 schools Write Personal Statement Get at least 2 letters of recommendations 2. Winter Quarter – (January 1 st – April) To Do: FAFSA or WASFA & scholarship applications Contact chosen school & arrange finances 3. Spring Quarter – (May & June) To Do: Commit to your future school Graduate on June 10 th

What is financial aid? Money to pay for college or technical school, training – Grants (federal and state need) – Loans (credit based, must be paid back) – Work-study (must get a job on campus to receive) – Scholarships (apply and meet deadlines) – College Bound Scholarship (signed up in 7 th or 8 th grade) – Must meet eligibility requirements, such as income, U.S. citizen or DACA, no felony convictions, at least a 2.0 GPA The Class of 2016

Final Thoughts…….. - Don’t Panic –Students: Apply to schools now (get 2 or 3 done by mid-Dec) –Parents & Students: Attend FAFSA Night – Thursday, December 10 th at 6:30 p.m. in the PAC –Students: Pay attention during scholarship training on Friday, October 23 rd at 10:45 a.m. The Class of 2016
