Interesting Facts A active adult bottle nose dolphin needs to eat 15 to 30 pounds a day Wild dolphins swimming in the ocean will often perform the same acrobatic moves that trained dolphins do in aquariums. Many of these “ tricks” are part of dolphins natural behaviors. Dolphins often stick there heads above the water. This is called spy hoping and lets the dolphin have a look above the waters surface. They may be checking to see were other dolphins are and what they are doing or they may be curious about a boat or some other object. Dolphins shed and replace skin very rapidly. Whole sheets of shed skin are often found in pools were captive dolphins live.
