2 Most Baby Animals Look Like Their Parents Most baby animals in the natural world look like their parents when they are born. Dolphins are a good example of this.

3 Dolphin Life Cycle Dolphins produce babies every 2 or 3 years Dolphin mothers are pregnant for around 1 year before their baby is born Dolphins are born tail first. Soon after it is born its mother will push it to the surface to allow it to breathe. In just a few minutes after being born, it can swim and take itself to the surface to breathe.

4 Life of a Baby Dolphin A baby dolphins is called a calf. It feeds on milk from it’s mother for their first year of it’s life. It stays with it’s mother for up to 8 years until it is able to mate and produce a family of it’s own.

5 Dolphin Families Dolphins travel in groups that we call a pod. These are sometimes family groups of mother, father, children and babies. Dolphins generally live to the age of 30 years.

6 Just Like Us In some ways, dolphins are just like us. In what ways are a dolphin family the same as your family?
