2 15.1 Assessment ▪ 1a. What event triggered the war between the Union and the Confederacy? ▪ The event that trigged the Civil War was the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter. ▪ 1b. How did the Union’s strategy differ from that of the Confederacy? ▪ The North planned a blockade of southern ports to destroy their economy. While the South wanted to fight until the north was worn down and leverage their cotton exporting to win foreign allies. ▪ 1c. Which side do you believe was best prepared for the war? Explain your answer. Opinion with evidence and explanation. ▪ 2a. How did women take part in the war? ▪ Women raised money, served in the US Sanitary, become nurses, spies, and even dressed like men to fight in battles.

You will also write down WHY you think it is interesting ▪ You will have 10 minutes

6 Civil War Battle Map 1.You will color the map using three different colors – One color is for the Union – One color is for the Border States – One color is for the Confederate States – One color for the territories 2.You will then create a map key
