2 P ERSPECTIVE Noun A particular way of looking at something The food crumb was small from the human perspective, but huge from the ant’s perspective!

3 V ITAL Adjective Very important or essential; usually related to life It was of vital importance for the paramedics to come when the boy fell out of the tree.

4 S USTAIN Verb To keep something going When I go jogging I make sure to drink plenty of fluids. This helps to sustain my energy and strength.

5 D ISPOSE Verb To throw something away or get rid of it We dispose of our trash with the use of garbage cans.

6 N UTRIENTS Noun Things that are needed by living creatures (people, animals, plants) to stay strong and healthy Many people take daily vitamins to give their body all the nutrients that it needs.

7 D IVERSE Adjective Varied or assorted We have many people from diverse backgrounds living in America.

8 I NTERNAL Adjective Happening or existing inside someone or something The human heart is considered an internal organ because it is inside the human body.

9 M OLT Verb When a creatures outer covering comes off so that a new covering can grow When Mr.Krabs got too big he had to molt his shell and find a new one.

10 O PERATOR Noun Someone or works a specific machine or device The operator of the Ferris Wheel told me it would be safe to ride.

11 B ATTLE Noun A fight or struggle between two opposing sides The two young children had their own small battle to see who would get the toy.

12 R EIGN Verb To have widespread rule over someone or something The King and Queen reign over all the townspeople.

13 C OMPOUND Noun Something formed by putting together two or more parts When I mixed the two ingredients together I formed a compound.

14 B RIEF Adjective Lasting only a short time; very quick The race was brief, because the runner was so fast that he seemed to fly to the finish line.

15 A CCURACY Noun The condition of being correct or exact; no error The arrow hit the bullseye with 100% accuracy !

16 E XCHANGING Verb Giving up something for something else; type of trading Many people celebrate the tradition of exchanging gifts with one another on Christmas.

17 S WELTERING Adjective Suffering extreme heat The boy was sweltering outside due to the extremely high summer temperatures.
