June 25, 1950: The Korean War Began The North Koreans, supported by the Soviets, attacked South Korea. They attacked South Korea because the North Koreans wanted to make everybody live under a communist Government. This began the Korean War.

October 1, 1950: The North Koreans Returned Back Home To The North UN troops arrived in South Korea and they forced North Koreans to move back to 38th parallel.

November 25, 1950: South Korea and Its Allies Invaded North Korea UN made a big mistake at that time. This angered China so China joined the war.

December 15, 1950: China Sends Troops to Korean War China pushed the allies back to south of the 38th parallel.

December 31, 1950: Chinese and North Koreans Was preparing for a second invasion The Chinese and North Koreans began a second invasion of South Korea. The attack soon weakened. By June 1951, the front line stood along the 38th parallel.

July 27, 1953: Representatives of both sides signed a peace treaty The boundary between North and South Korea was set very close to the front line of June 1951. The Korean War took the lives of about 1,300,000 South Koreans, 1,000,000 Chinese, 500,000 North Koreans, and 37,000 Americans. Korea remained divided into the 21st century.
