1. What is a recipe? A blueprint or a pattern to follow in preparing foods.

2. What are the two main parts of a recipe? A list of ingredients used. Directions for combining the ingredients to make a specific food product.

3. All good recipes are based on Scientific rules or principles

4. For good results in preparing foods it is best to do what? Use a tested recipe

5. A good recipe will have the following information:: Size of pan or utensil needed Pan preparation Baking or cooking temperature Baking or cooking time Description of food when baking & test for food being done. Number of servings or YIELD of recipe.

6. For perfect results in a recipe what should you do? READ the recipe carefully. Every word of it!! Measure exactly Mix according to directions

7. How do recipes usually list the ingredients ? All of the dry ingredients first then the liquid ingredients.

8. Why are they listed this way? Reduces the number of measuring utensils needed. Cuts down on number of dishes to wash. (may use a utensil more than once)
