The Nobel Prize: The Founder Alfred Nobel was the one who made the prize He was descendant of a wealthy family, much of the money he had went to the prize He was born in Stockholm Sweden, on Oct. 21, 1833 (he died Dec. 10, 1896) He wrote about the prize in his will, so after his death the Nobel Prize Foundation sprang to life

The Nobel Prize: The Facts The Nobel Prize Foundation was made in the early 1900s, a few years after his death The prize categories today include physics, chemistry, medicine, peace, literature, and economics

The Nobel Prize: The Winners Jimmy Carter, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Barack Obama are all presidents who have won the Nobel Peace prize The winners also receive a diploma, a document stating that they won the prize, and a medal

The Nobel Prize: Locations and Nominations The Nobel Prize Ceremonies are held in Stockholm, Sweden, except the Peace Prize, which is held in Oslo, Norway A person is nominated for the Nobel Prizes by academies, spread throughout Norway and Sweden One academy is assigned to a certain prize, and then a group of students and teachers chooses the winners for that year

The Noble Prize: Ideas and Facts I think it is good to give awards to hard-working men and women, however I think the system of nomination should be more formal and sophisticated There is also a large banquet in honor of the winners of the different prizes Also, each prize has a different carving of a scene on it
